Why My Co-Workers Call Me "Old"

Last weekend was Halloween, and a couple of my co-workers asked me if I would be going to the Halloween concert downtown. I actually had thought about it, even halfway planned to, earlier in the week. But it was Friday afternoon, and I was tired.

I'd had a rough week. The concert didn’t start until 9:00 p.m.. That meant I would have to stay dressed up for several more hours, instead of taking a hot bath and snuggling into pj’s.

The Land of Indecision

I prefer to have an inward certainty before making a decision---that confident, inner voice assuring me that I simply must choose a particular option, with no nagging doubts. I struggle when I fall into that place of indecisiveness where I feel no strong pull in one direction or the other.

I wish I could say that I have found the solution for those times when I have no clue what choice to make. I haven't. I have learned a few things, however...

Too Grown-Up To Play?

In September, my church band took a road trip to West Virginia to play for a church's homecoming celebration. I'm always excited for trips and weekend getaways, especially because I would get to play keyboard and add a state to the list of places I hadn't visited yet.

Live Freely

This past summer I finally got to take my much-anticipated trip to the beach. I hadn't been to the ocean in several years, and I love simply lying on the flat sand with the breeze against my face and water tickling my toes.

I traveled with relatives, and we arrived on a Sunday evening. I was worn out but, of course, had to take a walk down the shore and let the waves rush over my feet not long after arriving...
