Last weekend was Halloween, and a couple of my co-workers asked me if I would be going to the Halloween concert downtown. I actually had thought about it, even halfway planned to, earlier in the week. But it was Friday afternoon, and I was tired.
I'd had a rough week. The concert didn’t start until 9:00 p.m.. That meant I would have to stay dressed up for several more hours, instead of taking a hot bath and snuggling into pj’s.
The place would be swamped, with no room to sit and probably no room to even stand without being bumped into at every turn. I would not be able to see over the crowd, even in heels, which I can’t stand in that long anyway. And whenever going to a venue where I may have to stand all night, I always face that dilemma of whether or not to take my coat in. If I take it in, I stand for hours with a big bulky coat folded over my arms when there is barely enough room for me anyway. If I leave it in the car, I walk to the venue freezing to death, and I would most likely have quite a walk since all the nearby parking spots would be taken. The summertime sidewalk concerts are more fun anyway. Plus, I didn’t want to pay a cover charge. Gosh, that’s the night when “What Not To Wear” and “Say Yes to the Dress” come on!

When I relayed all these reasons to my co-workers, they laughed and said,“Yep. You’ve gotten old.”
They pretty much said the same thing today after asking if I would be going out tonight, and I replied with a sigh, “I really just want to stay home and clean my house.”
Don’t get me wrong, I like to get all dressed up, go listen to bands, and stay out late; basically, I love having fun and being active. Going out on the town, however, isn’t an every-weekend necessity. I can also enjoy relaxing with friends, practicing music, or just locking myself indoors to kick the weekend off with some tried-and-true house-cleaning therapy.
I am perfectly fine with all that.
So go ahead....call me old....
